Research Day and Official Launch at Drapers Hall, Shrewsbury

by Liz Millman - 22:40 on 18 May 2019

We were delighted to be welcomed by Nigel Hinton, from the Shrewsbury Drapers Company, who told us a little about the history of Drapers Hall and the Drapers Comapny. We have now got a copy of his recently published book which gives a lot of detailed background information to the history, but little reference to our story. Professor Chris Evans gave a great talk, which was filmed and we will make available - but click here to go through his PowerPoint presentation

Official photo of the launch!

The event finished with the first of our revival of 'Bittersweet Tea Parties" - the wonderful idea that Bettina Harden used in gardens throughout Wales in 2007 to raise awareness of the links Wales has with the Slave Trade.

The carrot cake has so far featured in several of the feedback reports as one of the highlights of the day!
